Who we are
Great Lakes Institute for Applied Intelligence is a small education and community initiative exploring how people can work thoughtfully with AI.

A small beginning, a shared curiosity
We’re starting with practical lessons, honest questions, and a desire to make new technology easier to understand.
Our roots are in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. We believe people here deserve room to explore AI on their own terms, in plain language and with their own judgment at the center.
The work is taking shape through writing, research, education, and building useful things.
What guides us
You can be curious, cautious, or somewhere in between. There’s room here to learn at your own pace.
Education
Make learning approachable, practical, and useful to people with different backgrounds and levels of experience.
Curiosity
Ask questions, try things, check the evidence, and stay willing to change our minds.
Community benefit
Keep the people around us in view. Start with real needs and share what we learn.
